Health and Social Care Worker of the Week 04/02/21

Health and Social Care Worker of the Week

At Jayco we are lucky to have such highly skilled and dedicated workers in all our sectors. This year we are bringing back worker of the week to reward them for all their hard work, the winner will receive a £50 gift voucher. As always, this award was extremely hard to give and it could have gone to a number of our workers. However, only one person can win, and we are pleased to announce that Ashleigh Jewitt is this week’s winner.

Ashleigh has had some unbelievable feedback from clients that regularly request her back due to not only her work ethic but the way she conducts herself with clients and service users alike. Ashleigh works consistent shifts with a key client every week and is always willing to pick up additionally around these hours. During the past week Ashleigh has covered 2 last minute bookings to help out when colleagues have rung in sick. She is more than happy to help as she understands the effect a cancellation has on the vulnerable clients that we support. Ashleigh is a Support Worker but also works as Children’s Residential worker as well.

What is a Children’s Residential Worker?

A Residential Childcare Worker will work with children and young people who may have complex emotional needs who may have challenging behaviour. They need to have a good level of resilience to cope with this challenging but rewarding role. Furthermore, they have a great ability to show care, understanding, flexibility and appropriate professional boundaries. Whilst the needs of individual children are unique and will vary, they work to help them achieve their potential every day. As well as supporting day-to-day living: they help them achieve longer term goals to develop their self-help, independence skills, reducing risk taking and harmful behaviours, and improving long term outcomes for those in their care.

What is a Support Worker?

A Support Worker cares for the most vulnerable people in our society and helps them to have the most independent and fulfilling life as possible. They provide individual care as required by each person they care for in order to meet and fulfil their personal need whilst ensuring that each person’s dignity and individuality is upheld and their independence, choice and control is always promoted.
