Job Description

Are you a compassionate and experienced Area Manager in supported living?

Join our clients team and play a pivotal role in providing quality care and support to vulnerable adults and young people in our supported accommodation setting. As an Area Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of services and the well-being of our residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and mentorship to service managers, ensuring they have the resources and guidance they need to excel.
  • Oversee the delivery of quality services, ensuring they meet the highest standards and comply with all regulations.
  • Take the lead in preparing for and conducting regulatory inspections, ensuring timely action on any identified areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to develop and implement strategic initiatives that enhance the quality and effectiveness of our services.
  • Ensure the continuity of service delivery, maintaining a smooth and efficient operation across all supported accommodation units.
  • Motivate and lead service managers, fostering a positive and supportive working environment that aligns with our organizational values.
  • Provide daily oversight and support to your team, addressing queries and ensuring a high level of performance and productivity.
  • Effectively manage concerns, complaints, and deflect issues with a suitable resolution, ensuring the satisfaction of residents and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with other teams and departments, including Income, Lettings, Case Management, and Property Services, to ensure seamless collaboration and coordination.
  • Assist in identifying and addressing potential risks, including repairs and Health and Safety concerns, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, external contractors, MPs, and councillors, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Essential: Proven experience working with vulnerable adults and young people in a senior position.
  • QCF Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent in the Adult Sector.
  • Minimum of Level 5 Qualification in Leadership and Management or equivalent, preferably in Residential Care.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, and support teams effectively.
  • Proven aptitude for analysing problems, identifying solutions, and implementing effective strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
  • Thorough understanding of Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Proficient computer literacy with strong report writing skills.
  • Full UK clean driving license and have access to a vehicle for business purposes.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated approach to working with a team of staff, committed to achieving positive outcomes for residents.
  • Desirable: Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role within a supported accommodation setting.
  • Proven track record of improving standards and implementing successful service improvements.
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and coaching staff to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Understanding of Local Authorities duties in relation to Looked after Children.
  • Experience in care planning and compliance with relevant regulations.

Working Conditions:

  • Regular exposure to Display Screen Equipment (DSE).
  • Direct work with vulnerable adults and young people, requiring sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Potential for verbal abuse and/or aggression.
  • Occasional requirement to drive own vehicle for work purposes.
  • Exposure to challenging and stressful situations.
  • Occasional requirement to work long and unsociable hours to meet organizational needs.
