Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Drafter to join our clients team. As a Drafter, you ideally will have substantial experience working with Balustrades, Staircases, Balconies, platforms, ladder products or similar type industries in the fabrication or steel sector. Must be proficient in AutoCAD and Solidworks or similar type design packages.

Responsibilities:

Designing

You'll be responsible for creating 2D and 3D models of components or structures based on client specifications, engineer designs, or project requirements. These designs may include detailed measurements, materials specifications, and assembly instructions.

Collaboration

Working closely with engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and incorporate feedback into your designs. Collaboration will also involve coordinating with manufacturing teams to ensure that designs are feasible and practical for fabrication.

Technical Expertise

Utilising your knowledge of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes to ensure that designs are structurally sound, cost-effective, and suitable for fabrication.

Quality Assurance

Performing thorough quality checks on your designs to identify any errors or inconsistencies that could affect the fabrication process or the final product. This includes verifying dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

Documentation

Creating comprehensive technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, to support the fabrication process. This documentation serves as a reference for manufacturing teams and helps ensure consistency and accuracy throughout the fabrication process.

Problem-Solving

Addressing design challenges and resolving technical issues that arise during the fabrication process. This might involve adjusting designs, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, or proposing alternative solutions to meet project objectives.

Continuous Improvement

Staying updated on advancements in CAD and other design technology, fabrication techniques, and industry standards to enhance your skills and improve the efficiency and quality of your work. Additionally, actively seeking feedback from colleagues and participating in training programs or professional development activities to further develop your expertise.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Architectural Studies (desired not essential).
  • Previous work experience as an AutoCAD Drafter.
  • Knowledge of CAD and AutoCAD software.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulations.
