Benefits of Temporary Employment
We have over 100 temporary staff in both our Health & Social and Transport sectors that we supply to clients around the North East. Temporary employment means the worker can choose when they would like to work but are not guaranteed full-time hours. However, at Jayco we are in the fortunate position of having lots of work available, this has resulted in our workers having the ability to pick and choose how many shifts they would like to work per week. Some people can be hesitant of temporary employment at first, so we have assembled a list of the benefits temporary employment can bring.
Flexibility – the number one benefit of temporary employment is the control the employee has over their own schedule. Shifts can be fitted around the workers lifestyle which can provide an excellent work-life balance. Temporary work can be ideal for parents who want to fit their shifts around childcare arrangements.
Financial Reward – more often than not temporary work is better paid than a permanent equivalent. For example, at Jayco the minimum pay rate for a temporary Health Care Assistant is £9.00 per hour.
Employment rights – it is also important to remember temporary workers have the same employment rights as a permanent employee. They still are entitled to holiday pay, maternity/paternity leave etc.
Regular money – our temporary workers are paid on a weekly basis.
Gain new skills – temporary workers are often in new locations/services every week. Therefore, they are able to experience a variety of situations which can widen their skill set. We also provide regular training to all our temporary Health & Social workers.
Foot in the door – Temporary work can provide opportunities that may have been closed previously. Furthermore, it can lead to permanent employment if that’s what you are looking for, it’s a great opportunity to get a foot in the door and learn new skills which will improve your CV.
Quick hiring process – at Jayco we do most of the work in the employment process and it can be a very quick turnaround from applying for a role to getting out to work.
