Health and Social Care Worker of the Week
At Jayco we are lucky to have such highly skilled and dedicated workers in all our sectors. This year we are bringing back worker of the week to reward them for all their hard work, the winner will receive a £50 Amazon gift voucher. As always, this award was extremely hard to give and it could have gone to a number of our workers. However, only one person can win, and we are pleased to announce that Dawn Shaw is this week’s winner.
Dawn is one our support workers who also does children's residential work. This award is long overdue as Dawn is one of our best support workers, she has worked tirelessly and without complaints since she started at Jayco. She regularly works with service users with complex and challenging needs and she always receives positive feedback from clients. Furthermore, Dawn is always praised for her professional behaviour and the way she deals with challenging situations.
What is a Support Worker?
A Support Worker cares for the most vulnerable people in our society and helps them to have the most independent and fulfilling life as possible. They provide individual care as required by each person they care for in order to meet and fulfil their personal need whilst ensuring that each person’s dignity and individuality is upheld and their independence, choice and control is always promoted.
What is a Children’s Residential Worker?
A Residential Childcare worker will work with children and young people who may have complex emotional needs who may have challenging behaviour. They need to have a good level of resilience to cope with this challenging but rewarding role. Furthermore, they have a great ability to show care, understanding, flexibility and appropriate professional boundaries. Whilst the needs of individual children are unique and will vary, they work to help them achieve their potential every day. As well as supporting day-to-day living: they help them achieve longer term goals to develop their self-help, independence skills, reducing risk taking and harmful behaviours, and improving long term outcomes for those in their care.
